SUMMARY:2025 CUNY IT Conference – Moving Forward: Reimagining CUNY in an AI-Enhanced World
DESCRIPTION:Over the years\, the CUNY IT Conference has invited us to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by technology: from “Good Moves in Hard Times\,” to “Opening Access\,” to “Us and It: CUNY in the Age of Generative AI.” Along the way\, we’ve examined how to connect across systems\, collaborate intentionally\, and reimagine the way we teach\, learn\, and work.In 2025\, we turn toward the future. With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and automation\, how do we move forward—thoughtfully\, strategically\, and ethically—at CUNY? What does it mean to reimagine higher education in an AI-enhanced world\, where intelligent systems are reshaping everything from the classroom to the laboratory to the library? What opportunities\, and responsibilities\, do we have as educators\, researchers\, technologists\, and administrators? \n\n\n\n\nHow is AI influencing the way we conduct\, support\, or disseminate research? What new questions are we asking\, and what new methods are emerging?\n\n\n\nHow do we design curricula\, teaching practices\, and learning environments that account for AI as both a tool and a topic?\n\n\n\nWhat does academic integrity look like in an age of machine-generated content and decision-making?\n\n\n\nWhere is AI helping us streamline operations\, improve access\, and reduce friction for students and faculty\, and where does it raise new concerns?\n\n\n\nHow do we foster inclusive\, human-centered innovation\, and what ethical frameworks should guide our use of AI across disciplines\, departments\, and roles?\n\n\n\n\nWe invite proposals from across the CUNY community\, as well as our colleagues in industry\, that explore how AI is reshaping the work we do\, the questions we ask\, and the futures we imagine.Whether you are testing new tools\, designing new courses\, advancing your research\, refining digital pedagogy\, or developing critical perspectives on emerging technologies\, we hope you’ll join us in this university-wide conversation.Let’s move forward together. The 2025 CUNY IT Conference will take place at John Jay College of Criminal Justice on December 4-5\, 2025. Submit your proposal by Monday\, September 15th using this form.

SUMMARY:Computational Thinking and AI in General Education
DESCRIPTION:This talk will discuss an approach to infusing Computational Thinking (CT) and AI concepts into existing lecture activities within non-computer science subject material \n\n\n\n\nJoin the session HERE\n\n\n\n\nProfessor Douglas Moody will discuss the fundamental building blocks of AI tools (such as Large Language Models)\, followed by demonstrations of how www.ctforall.net resources can guide incorporation of these building blocks into lecture plans and course activities. The goal is to enable general education courses to include CT and AI fundamentals\, enabling all students to be knowledgeable in this new critical area of technology. (The talk will not discuss identifying inappropriate student  use of AI tools or issues involving AI ethics.)
