DESCRIPTION:Since its inception in The Bronx\, New York in 1973\, hip-hop—the music\, the culture\, and the lifestyle—has become a dominant force that has impacted the globe. Be it in film\, fashion\, or politics\, hip-hop’s undeniable stamp on individual and community expression stems from its diverse\, diasporic influences.   \n\n\n\nInspired by this diversity\, the African American Studies Department and the Hispanic-Serving Institutions Committee will sponsor a library exhibit to jointly celebrate 50 years of hip-hop and Hispanic Heritage Month.  \n\n\n\nWe invite submissions from the City Tech community of creative work (photos\, drawings\, and other forms of images) that connects or is in conversation with hip-hop in the Latinx community.    \n\n\n\nSelected works will be on display in the 2023 Hispanic Heritage Month Library Exhibit and on the HSI Committee OpenLab site.  \n\n\n\nDeadline to submit: May 31\, 5pm  \n\n\n\nGoogle Form: https://tinyurl.com/5e9p25fd \n\n\n\nView flyer

DESCRIPTION:City Tech faculty are cordially invited to participate in the 2023-2024 FC/LSCC Publications Support workshop series\, with the goal of each participant setting a long-term goal and making substantial progress on their scholarly endeavors. The series may be of interest to faculty from disciplines where training is not typically focused on publication\, to new faculty\, and to mid-career and senior faculty seeking to reenergize or refocus their scholarly activities. The group will meet once a month. Meetings include a guest speaker on a topic of interest\, as well as group discussions of monthly goals\, progress\, and challenges. SUMMARY:2023 - 2024 CRSP Application
DESCRIPTION:The CUNY Research Scholars Program (CRSP) provides a $5000 stipend ($1000 in Fall\, $1000 in Spring and $3000 in Summer) for full-time students enrolled in Associate program or in Bachelor program with less than 50 credits for conducting research with a faculty member. If there is a student that you would like to work with\, please provide them with this information and encourage them to apply. This is an opportunity to advance your scholarship while providing valuable experience to a promising student. First year first-time students are especially encouraged to apply. The program is supported by CUNY Research Office and/or NSF Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program. Freshmen researchers from last year who apply for this year’s program will be part of the LSAMP program as well. \n\n\n\nFaculty mentors will receive $1000 per student as summer salary in June 2024.   \n\n\n\n*If students are first year incoming freshmen\, faculty will receive an additional $500 per student from the JLM RISE Program that is supported by the Robin Hood Foundation. \n\n\n\n**For CRSP students who are also designated as LSAMP fellows\, faculty mentors will receive an additional $450 per student allowance for the purchase of research materials/supply. \n\n\n\nCRSP application deadline:  Thursday\, September 28\, 2023. \n\n\n\nThe Application \n\n\n\nPart I can be found at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CRSPCityTech23 \n\n\n\nPart II of the application is attached and includes: (1) PREA (Pre-Research Experience Application)\, (2) CUNYFirst Expense Reimbursement form\, (3) W-9\, and (4) Unofficial copy of fall 2023 transcript. \n\n\n\nProgram requirements for students include attending a mandatory orientation meeting\, completion of the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)- Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) online training\, attending 4 professional development workshops\, and submitting an abstract and presenting a poster at the Dr. Janet Liou-Mark Honors and Undergraduate Research Poster Presentation session in both fall 2023 and spring 2024 semesters. DESCRIPTION:2023-2024 Beitler Resource funds are now available to support and sustain meaningful\, college-related activities that contribute to the professional growth of full-time students in good academic standing. Activities may include but are not limited to the following: \n\n\n\n\nTo attend meetings and conferences of professional associations.\n\n\n\nTo travel to receive awards.\n\n\n\nTo participate in special study and exchange programs.\n\n\n\nTo facilitate participation in professional competitions.\n\n\n\nTo purchase and circulate resources\, books\, equipment\, etc.\, for students in specific departments applying for the funds (as appropriate\, such resources are to be returned as college property following use).\n\n\n\n\nGuidelines and the application are attached. Application are submitted by faculty\, not students. Maximum Grant Amount per project: $1\,000 \n\n\n\nTo apply for a Beitler grant\, please complete and submit the attached application to Foundation@citytech.cuny.edu on or before Friday\, October 13\, 2023.
