SUMMARY:Solicitation of proposals for Beitler Funds to support students' professional development
DESCRIPTION:2023-2024 Beitler Resource funds are now available to support and sustain meaningful\, college-related activities that contribute to the professional growth of full-time students in good academic standing. Activities may include but are not limited to the following: \n\n\n\n\nTo attend meetings and conferences of professional associations.\n\n\n\nTo travel to receive awards.\n\n\n\nTo participate in special study and exchange programs.\n\n\n\nTo facilitate participation in professional competitions.\n\n\n\nTo purchase and circulate resources\, books\, equipment\, etc.\, for students in specific departments applying for the funds (as appropriate\, such resources are to be returned as college property following use).\n\n\n\n\nGuidelines and the application are attached. Application are submitted by faculty\, not students. Maximum Grant Amount per project: $1\,000 \n\n\n\nTo apply for a Beitler grant\, please complete and submit the attached application to Foundation@citytech.cuny.edu on or before Friday\, October 13\, 2023. DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend the 8th Annual City Tech Science Fiction Symposium on Thursday\, November 30 (9:00AM-5:00PM) \n\n\n\nOnline via Zoom\, Sponsored by the School of Arts and Sciences. \n\n\n\nThe theme for this year is “Science Fiction\, Gender\, and Sexuality.” The event features a keynote address by Ytasha L. Womack\, a critically acclaimed author\, filmmaker\, and independent scholar; a writers discussion panel of authors published in Analog Science Fiction and Fact Magazine; the presentation of the Analog Emerging Black Writer Award; a panel discussion from faculty at the Georgia Institute of Technology\, a panel discussion with Macaulay Honors College\, CUNY undergraduate students\, and paper presentations from scholars exploring all aspects of this year’s theme. The symposium is all day long\, but attendees may dip in-and-out as their schedules permit. Also\, the event will be livestreamed on YouTube.  \n\n\n\nLinks for registration and the livestream along with the program are available on the Science Fiction at City Tech OpenLab site.

Activities include information on how our body parts coordinate and function in health and disease. SUMMARY:City Tech's Spring 2024 Emerging Scholars Program
DESCRIPTION:EMERGING SCHOLARS PROGRAM SPRING 2024 APPLICATION \n\n\n\nThe Emerging Scholars Program (ESP) provides a $500 stipend for full-time students (enrolled for 12 or more credits) and a $250 stipend for part-time students (enrolled for 11 or fewer credits) for conducting research with a faculty member. If there is a student that you would like to work with\, please provide them with this information and encourage them to apply. This is an opportunity to advance your own scholarship while providing valuable experience to a promising student. DESCRIPTION:Using an NPR segment of Pop Culture Happy Hour\, namely\, “The hip-hop verse that changed my life\,” as a point of departure\, AFR’s “‘Bring the Noise’: Hip Hop at 50 and Til Infinity” is an interactive hip hop exhibit that celebrates the 50th anniversary of hip hop.  It will feature hip hop memorabilia\, including books\, magazines\, albums\, etc. that reflect the influence of hip hop on visual culture\, identity\, and community.  AFR hopes to include the voices of City Tech’s community by soliciting artwork\, essays\, poems\, and other creative writing to be included in a catalog that will accompany the exhibit. All submissions will be included and credited to the author. \n\n\n\nCASH PRIZES FOR THE BEST ENTRIES!!! \n\n\n\nThe exhibit will open the week of April 15\, 2024\, and will coincide with our Spring 2024 event\, “Supa Dupa Fly: LGBTQ+ Hip Hop Til Infinity” to be held on April 16\, 2024.
