SUMMARY:NSF Technology\, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP) Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Overview of Webinar: This new NSF directorate — first in more than 30 years — builds upon the agency’s commitment over seven decades to serve as a beacon of U.S. innovation\, advancing the frontiers of research and education across all fields of science and engineering. TIP is a critical first step that will accelerate the development of new technologies and products that improve Americans’ way of life\, grow the economy\, create new jobs\, and strengthen and sustain U.S. competitiveness for decades to come. TIP’s mission is to harnesses the nation’s vast and diverse talent pool to advance critical and emerging technologies\, address pressing societal and economic challenges\, and accelerate the translation of research results from lab to market and society. This webinar provides an overview of all funding opportunities offered by this new directorate. It will highlight how in contrast to many existing NSF programs that primarily focus on scientific innovation\, TIP programs include a strong emphasis on meaningfully engaging the consumers of research outcomes in informing and shaping the research questions; prototyping and piloting of research-based solutions (i.e.\, co-design and co-creation); and translating research results to practice\, entrepreneurship\, and direct economic growth. The program further differentiates itself from traditional NSF approaches through the nature and types of partnerships expected; the technology-translation and workforce-development outputs that will be tracked and assessed; and the budgets of the expected NSF Engines\, which are an order of magnitude greater than traditional NSF center-scale awards. \n\n\n\nPresenter: John Tsapogas\, Director\, RFCUNY-APPS \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\nIn connection with the RFCUNY Wednesday Brown Bag Research Webinar – Academic Year 2022/2023

SUMMARY:NSF Geosciences Opportunities for Leadership in Diversity (GOLD-EN)
DESCRIPTION:Overview of Webinar: The program supports activities that will develop unique approaches or bring to scale current efforts to increase and sustain the inclusion of individuals from diverse backgrounds in the geoscience education and research community. Proposals are invited that address elements in the following two areas: Professional Development and Geoscience Capacity Building at Minority Serving Institutions. The NSF Geosciences directorate encourages projects that will develop efforts and training that focus on the creation of BAJEDI (Belonging Accessibility Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion) leaders through scaling of model professional development (PD) programs\, identifying barriers that exist within academia and/or the geosciences that prevent the development of diversity champions\, and the employment of strategies that will create and sustain cohorts of diversity leaders to maximize collective impact in the geoscience ecosystem. \n\n\n\nTargeted Audience: CUNY Geosciences facultyPresenter: John Tsapogas\, Director\, RFCUNY-APPSWebinar ID: 809-040-075 \n\n\n\n\nRegister
