SUMMARY:RFCUNY Brown Bag Research Webinars: Writing Competitive Grant Applications Focusing on Project Summaries and Project Descriptions
DESCRIPTION:Project descriptions and summaries are important sections in grant proposals that need to be carefully presented with a focus on the needs of the Principal Investigator project and the sponsor program goals. While preparing the document\, emphasis should be given to the quality of information and how the information is organized\, structured\, and presented. These documents are often written by faculty in a fast-paced manner to meet sponsor deadline requirements. This webinar will provide faculty with guidance and training on how to present the important sections of these documents to make them competitive. The webinar will include the following topics: Effective proposal titles; Setting a realistic scope for the project; Outlining the scientific problems/challenges that the project will solve; Describing the hypotheses of the research; Setting project goals\, objectives\, and outcomes; Identifying project benefits to your field of study\, your institution\, your students\, and society\, Employing and presenting the right methods; Employing the right team (researchers\, faculty\, students). Designing an effective management plan (advisory committees); Establishing stages\, timelines\, deadlines\, and milestones. \n\n\n\nTargeted Audience: All CUNY Faculty.Presenter: John Tsapogas\, Director\, RFCUNY APPSRegistration URL: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6391458226888959061Webinar ID: 362-461-211

SUMMARY:City Tech Writer Volume 19
DESCRIPTION:Hope the semester has been a productive and positive experience so far. I wanted to remind you know that\, in its fourth year as an all-digital journal\, City Tech Writer continues to immerse reader and writers alike in the possibilities of the written word. Once again\, you are invited to sponsor submissions for this year’s issue. \n\n\n\nWe’re looking for excellent student writing (from any discipline) to City Tech Writer\, Vol. 19\, by uploading a Word document or PDF at the submissions page (scroll to bottom). \n\n\n\nThe deadline for submissions is November 25\, 2023. We are open to extending the deadline in cases where essays may come in after this date. \n\n\n\nCity Tech Writer is a journal of outstanding student writing from ALL disciplines. We’d love to see work in the humanities and STEM alike\, representing the full breadth of our students’ stories\, research\, and ideas. Last year we were excited to publish a digital issue that\, like the preceding couple of years\, boasted a few firsts: the first collection of Spanish language essays; the first to pair student writing with AI-generated images; the first to feature plays from our college’s interdisciplinary course\, Theatre of Law. We’d love to have more talented writers join this year’s issue! \n\n\n\n\nView Flyer

SUMMARY:Works in the Works: Trauma Visualized
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: George Larkins\, Communication Design Department \n\n\n\nTraditional Japanese architecture masterfully blends environment\, light\, and boundaries. Japanese architecture creates spaces that resonate with nature and the change of me. Deep-rooted appreciation for nature integrates buildings seamlessly into their surroundings\, forging harmonious unity. These spaces don’t just separate inside from outside; they frame nature like an ever-changing painting\, celebrating each season’s beauty. \n\n\n\nHybrid event — save the date and watch your email for details!

SUMMARY:RFCUNY Brown Bag Research Webinars: How to Develop an Evaluation Plan for your Grant Application
DESCRIPTION:Not all grant proposals require an evaluation plan; however\, in recent years most program announcements and funding opportunities stipulate an evaluation strategy or plan with specific milestones. If an evaluation plan is required\, it will be listed in the program announcement. Most often\, larger\, more involved grant proposals always will require an evaluation plan. An outcomes evaluation is an integral part of a grant proposal that provides information to investigators and sponsors on how to improve a project during its development and implementation. A final summative evaluation provides a post-project analysis on the extent to which the project met its goals after it has been completed. This webinar will cover the following topics: What is a project evaluation? Why is it needed? Should you include an evaluation plan in your proposal if it is not required? What kinds of evaluations exist and how do you choose the right evaluator for your project? Should you always employ an outside independent evaluator in your project? Should you always include a logic model? How can a logic model be helpful in the implementation of an evaluation plan? \n\n\n\nTargeted Audience: All CUNY Faculty.Presenter: John Tsapogas\, Director\, RFCUNY APPSRegistration URL: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8669217510106078557RegistrationWebinar ID: 456-078-891
