SUMMARY:RFCUNY Brown Bag Research Webinars: U.S. Department of Education – The Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE)
DESCRIPTION:Overview of Webinar: FIPSE is a unit of the Higher Education Programs within the Office of Postsecondary Education\, FIPSE’s mandate is to “improve postsecondary educational opportunities” across a broad range of concerns. Through its various grant competitions\, FIPSE seeks to support the implementation of innovative educational reform ideas\, to evaluate how well they work\, and to share the findings with the larger education community. The following FIPSE programs will be highlighted in this webinar: \n\n\n\n\nAugustus F. Hawkins Center of Educational Excellence Program: Competitive grant program to support all aspects of the teacher preparation pipeline at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs)\, to help increase the number of well-prepared teachers of color resulting in a more diverse teacher workforce to teach in our Nation’s elementary and secondary schools. This program focuses on various aspects of the teacher preparation pipeline\, including the recruitment\, preparation\, support\, and placement of teachers of color in underserved communities.\n\n\n\nCenter of Excellence in Spatial Computing Program is a grant program designed to help increase the number of highly qualified Americans available for hire within the high-tech labor pool.\n\n\n\nPilot Program for Cybersecurity Education Technological Upgrades for Community Colleges: supports technology upgrades for community colleges for the purpose of supporting cybersecurity programs.\n\n\n\n\nTargeted Audience: All CUNY Faculty engaged in postsecondary education training and research.Presenter: John Tsapogas\, Director\, RFCUNY APPSRegistration URL: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/5060206931373430615Webinar ID: 788-710-611
