Dear colleagues-
On behalf of the Living Lab General Education Seminar and co-leaders Profs. Anna Matthews (Dental Hygiene) and Jason Montgomery (Architectural Technology), I am delighted to invite you to participate in the Spring 2020 seminar, which will focus on Intercultural Knowledge and Competence. This Gen Ed outcome, important to all, has immediate and particular relevance to programs accredited by ABET, ACEN, CODA, and other agencies that accredit professional programs. Both full-time and part-time members of the faculty are eligible to apply. Please see the attached Call for Participation to see details.
As a Living Lab General Education Seminar participant, you will become part of the growing multi-disciplinary community at City Tech that is enthusiastically thinking about and developing general education, pedagogy and student engagement in their teaching and learning practices. Participants will explore, implement and assess a variety of teaching practices proven to engage students using ethical reasoning as our main focus.
At City Tech we define the student learning outcome of “Intercultural Knowledge and Competence” in the following manner:

Among the questions seminar participants consider are:
Participants will take part in five workshops and one review session during the spring 2020 semester that focus on General Education and the following: George Kuh’s (AAC&U’s) High-impact Educational Practices, assessment, open pedagogy on City Tech’s OpenLab, our open digital platform for teaching and learning, and place-based learning.
Participants will be inspired and supported by full-time faculty members, who are interested in sharing their own innovative teaching practices.
