LGBTQIA+ limited film screening, Heightened Scrutiny

May 6 @ 2:30 pm 5:00 pm

The LGBTQIA+ collective has the good fortune to bring the film Heightened Scrutiny to campus for a screening along with its director, Sam Feder, scheduled for May 6th at 3pm in the Auditorium of the Academic Complex. This is only the second screening of the film in NYC and it has been selected for a number of film festivals, including Sundance.

HEIGHTENED SCRUTINY follows Chase Strangio, ACLU attorney and the first out trans person to argue before the Supreme Court, as he fights a high-stakes legal battle to overturn Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth (United States v. Skrmetti).

The film exposes the dangerous role of mainstream media in fueling anti-trans legislation, uncovering how biased coverage drives hate, endangers lives, and threatens democracy itself.

The screening is a chance for students and the City Tech community to see them/ourselves, friends, classmates, etc reflected on the big screen doing big things for and by trans and LGBTQIA+ people and supporters of justice. As we know, trans rights have come under even greater attack in recent months.
