Priority Town Hall on Transfer of Credits

Dear CUNY Faculty and Staff, Last week, I wrote to you to share our new initiative regarding transfer and seek your support on behalf of our students. Although much progress has been made to facilitate transfer, work remains to be done. Students continue to lose credits upon transfer in the same major, delaying academic progression and resulting in frustration and lost resources. We also need to improve and align our policies and practices to support our transfer students as they move between CUNY schools.

Professor Lubie Alatriste of New York City College of Technology is leading this effort on behalf of the University Faculty Senate, and Associate Vice Chancellor Alicia Alvero is leading this effort for the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. We are committed to working together across faculty governance channels with full transparency for the benefit of our students.

I invite you to join us in a town-hall conversation and Q&A on transfer reform at CUNY. This will be a valuable opportunity for AVC Alvero, Professor Alatriste, and I to brief you on the progress made thus far and the work that still needs to be done.
