Overview: Most CUNY colleges are designated as Hispanic Serving Institutions. HSIs play a vital role in our nation’s higher education framework. For more than a century, the diversity of Hispanic and Latino students makes our classrooms across the country rich learning and research environments. For many Hispanic and Latino students, HSIs provide critical pathways to opportunity, and hundreds of HSIs across our Nation are advancing inter-generational mobility, success, and opportunity. For these reasons, it is important to ensure that in higher education HSIs receive an increasing level of research and education support. In recent years, Federal funding agencies have developed grant programs that target HSIs in their programs. In this webinar we will cover details on HSIs programs within the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the U.S. Department of Education. The focus of the webinar is to provide broad coverage on the types of grants that have targeted HSIs as eligible institutions for research and education support and to share with CUNY faculty strategies for successfully applying for these grants.
