FWA – Hall of Fame This Web site offers a selection of well-designed flash sites.

Open Source Software

Audacity Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.

Citrix Citrix Systems provides server and desktop virtualization, networking, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and cloud computing technologies for businesses worldwide. Citrix provides free Xenserver software, along with support for its products.

Fedora Fedora is an RPM-based, general purpose operating system built on top of the Linux kernel, developed by the community-supported Fedora Project and sponsored by Red Hat.

FreeSoundProject The Freesound Project is a collaborative database of Creative Commons licensed sounds. Freesound provides only sound, not songs.

GIMP The best free open source alternative to adobe photoshop.

NCH Softwares NCH softwares is a free software download site. Software is available for audio, video, business, graphics, computer utility, dictation, transcription programs for Mobile, Pocket PC, Windows and Macs.

OpenOffice is an open-source software application suite available for a number of different computer operating systems. It supports Microsoft Office formats among others.

PuppyLinux Puppy Linux is a lightweight open source, Linux distribution that focuses on ease of use. The entire system can be run from RAM, allowing the boot medium to be removed after the operating system has started. Applications include SeaMonkey, AbiWord, Gnumeric, and Gxine/xine.

VirtualBox VirtualBox is a free virtualization software that supports a large number of operating systems applications.

Windows Photo Story 3 Windows Photo Story 3 lets you create narrated slideshows using your digital photos.

Second Life Second Life (SL) is a virtual world developed by Linden Lab that launched on June 23, 2003, and is accessible on the Internet. A free client program called the Viewer enables its users, called Residents, to interact with each other through avatars. Residents can explore, meet other residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, and create and trade virtual property and services with one another, or travel throughout the world.

City Tech has purchased and maintained a virtual Island named City Tech, which some professors have used in a virtual classroom setting for assigning projects for student. Real money is needed to purchase items in SL.
