Registration is open for this very special opportunity! The Louis Stokes Regional Center for Inclusive Mentoring in STEM will be offering a workshop at City Tech – Holistic Mentoring for Diverse Urban Student Populations. The workshop will be offered twice:
There is an overwhelming body of research indicating that undergraduate scholars who participate in High Impact Practices such as research experiences benefit significantly from their interactions with their faculty mentors. The roles that faculty play as mentors form a multifaceted model that follows a specific mentoring cycle. In this workshop, we will explore the main faces of mentoring, in particular those that make it holistic, the stages of a mentor-protégé relationship, and recommendations by the National Academies to promote mentoring as a science. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Benjamin C. Flores (UTEP), Dr. Audrey Boklage (UT), and Dr. Karina Vielma (UTSA).
