Pirate Queens the Dauntless Women who Dared to rule the High Seas, published by National Geographic for Kids, will be released this January 11th, 2022.
By Leigh Lewis and Sara Gómez Woolley, Pirate Queens is a lushly illustrated non-fiction book for middle-grade readers. It was extensively researched in collaboration with the National Geographic team to provide visual reconstructions which are both realistic and artistic, of six different women from six different cultures and time periods, who turned to piracy and ruled their day. Each pirate profile includes a dramatic original poem presented against a backdrop of full-color art. Each profile is followed by fascinating information about the real-life and times of these daring (and dangerous!) women.
